Colour imaging science is part of
imaging science and is associated with the capture, storage,
distribution and reproduction of coloured images. From traditional
beginnings in film and photography, the subject now includes digital
imaging and is being driven forward by the need to advance the
technology associated with digital cameras in all their versions,
still, video and mobile phone. A similar need for advance in colour
imaging science is associated with the continued development of
electronic displays such as LCD and plasma screens. These developments
depend on a thorough understanding of colour science.
Education and Training: Opportunities for
full-time
study and for industrial training in some aspects of colour science are
provided within the courses offered by the Department
of Colour Science and by the School of Design of
the University of Leeds (UK).
Research and Development:
The research sections of the Department
of Colour Science (research) and the
School
of Design (research) at the University of Leeds
study the chemical, physical, visual and psychological aspects of
colour science.
Service to Industry:
Colour
Science Analytical
is Leeds University's service for the
colour-making and colour-using industries. A facility to help solve
problems in the creation and performance of coloured materials.
